I constantly think about the Ruby-Count dynamic. She’s consistently terrified of him. Whenever they’re in a scene together her inner monologue is just FEAR FEAR PANIC HELP but she’s a teenage spy who cannot afford to Not Be Cool In The Face Of Danger so she forces herself to engage in witty banter about it. And the thing is the Count seems to genuinely enjoy the verbal sparring. He’s just having such a good time. He considers her to be a very smart kid who’s a worthy opponent. Sure he’s tried to kill her several times but she’s worked her way out of it, so, like, they’re almost chill now? He once spent an extravagant amount of time crafting an elaborate lemonade-based code that he knew she’d get obsessed over just so they could sit down and chat for a little bit. She may be one of the few people he actually respects but I don’t think she KNOWS that because he scares the shit out of her. But also it can’t be understated that one of Ruby’s hobbies is watching pulpy horror movies, it’s one of her favorite things. And the one time she sits down and watches some of the movies he’d directed back in the day, she can’t help but admit that they’re right up her alley

Looks like I might be getting an Xbox pretty soon. And maybe, 6 months game pass. I didn't want a game pass, planned just buying games I needed (one game, you know which one), but one local shop has some really nice offer with it included. Better late than never, here's a snippet from twinfic part 2: two gaons boogaloo (or something)

When they rounded the corner of the entryway to the room Yohan had installed Gaon in and Gaon came into view, Garam actually ran across the room to the bed. He kicked off his shoes without breaking his stride and clambered up onto the huge bed to throw his arms around Gaon. Gaon, muzzy from pain medication and sedatives, blinked several times before his eyes widened and then shut and he reciprocated the hug. Then something loosened in his face, some tightness that had evoked Isaac, and the intensity of the resemblance faded to a less painful level. After a moment of silent embrace Gaon opened his eyes and met Yohan’s gaze. “Thank you for bringing him here,” he said, with more softness than he had said anything to Yohan since their initial introduction. “Butler says you brought someone home,” pronounced Elijah, suddenly at Yohan’s elbow. Up on the bed, the brothers untangled. Garam looked at Elijah and smiled brightly. “Hello!” he said. “Who are you?” Elijah sneered and looked up at Yohan. “Are you making them in a laboratory in the basement?” She jerked on one wheel of her chair, turning it abruptly 90 degrees, and Yohan jumped out of her way to avoid having his toes rolled over as she made her dramatic exit.

i just realized how perfect my timing was to slowly get back into metroid again (more than i am by default, i mean), because a few weeks ago i went back to finish 100%ing dread mode in all 3 save files (i still feel the adrenaline from my impromptu no-hit raven beak), then a few days ago i started replaying another metroid 2 remake because i never beat it on hard mode, and wrote a couple posts about metroid and now fucking prime 4 has been unveiled so now i get to keep obsessing over metroid for ever

Hey, I have a live ADULT Sex Education Podcast that airs every Sunday night at 11 pm Eastern (GMT +4)!

On March 24th I talked about Astrology, Synchronicity, Cults, and Dangerous Thinking. Why would I talk about that stuff on a sex ed podcast? Easy, a lot of adults get into trouble by forgetting that we're ALL vulnerable to failures of rationality and are susceptible to wooly thinking that leads straight to high control groups that offer us certainty about the future.

There's a foray into astrophysics as I discuss retrograde motion and how eclipses happen, the age of astrological practices, the most likely use of Stonehenge, and then delve into how a deeply personal experience of a Synchronicity can develop into myth, folklore, spiritual practice, and religion over time. We explore cults, and how high control groups are not simply one end of the political/social/cultural spectrum, but can occur all along the entire range of human expression!

I finish up the hour by reminding us all that we're all vulnerable to the errors of rational thought that can lead to involvement in high control groups. The cure? To pause and check yourself from time to time to make sure that you are not fully deep throating the cultic cock. You gotta pull off and breathe some non-cult air from time to time, check with rational logic, and cross check your facts before you accidentally find yourself living in a commune and signing over your life savings.

NB: a belief in some weird ass fringe stuff is perfectly fine! I studied astrology intensely for 18 months (thank you, hyperfixation, that was very edifying), and I read tarot non-ironically! Just check from time to time that your beliefs aren't leading you into behavior that harms yourself or others. It's easier than you think to wind up with some Deeply Problematic Beliefs!
